The Massachusetts Daily Collegian

In the Daily Collegian, I worked as an editor and columnist for the Opinion and Editorial Section (OP/ED). While I edited student articles across a variety of subjects, my own work centered around activism, community, education, and writing. To check out some of my articles click on the link below!

The University of Massachusetts Press

I started out with the University of Massachusetts Press as a digital marketing intern, developing social media campaigns for authors and writing book copy for new titles. Since then, I’ve been rehired as a digital marketing specialist and given the opportunity to work on the metadata for our titles, alternative text, and digital ads. Below I have examples of my designs and writing pieces throughout my years at the press.

Jabberwocky

Jabberwocky is the offical undergraduate literary journal of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While I worked as an acquisitions editor on the poetry section of Jabberwocky, I also had the privilege of having my own work published in the 2024 edition of the Journal. My poem "Days Before," reminisces on childhood memory and sisterly relationships as they evolve over time.

The Scribe

The Scribe is a journal focused on highlighting the literary and artistic talent of undergraduate students. It's sponsored by the College of Humanities and Fine Arts within the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My poem "What Do You Remember Best," was printed in the Spring 2024 edition of the Scribe, focusing on themes of childhood and growing pains. While the journal remains exclusively in print, I have attached the poem below.

mOthertongue

mOthertongue is a multilingual journal that publishes the art and literature of the undergraduate and graduate communities of the Univeristy of Massachusetts Amherst and the Five Colleges. Works are submitted in non-English and then translated for the journal with the help of the comparative literature students who run the journal at UMass. My submission "Indicium Lunae/Mark of the Moon" is a latin poem I wrote then translated into English. Since mOthertongue is exclusively in print, click below to read the poem and translation.

Indesign Work

Under the Professional Writing and Technical Communication certificate (PWTC) at the Univeristy of Massachusetts Amherst, I was given the chance to format one of my own poems using Adobe InDesign. Over the course of a semester, I learned how to utilize a variety of tools to create a poetry chapbook for a long poem. Click below to see my final project, "Drift."

Coding Work

While I was obtaining my certificate in Professional Writing and Technical Communication, I had the opportunity to create two websites. The first was this lovely, digital portfolio, which I created from scratch using HTML and CSS. The second was a MadCap Flare website that focuses on principles of accessibility and documentation—specifically in relation to text accessibility. Since you’ve made it this far in my portfolio, change things up and take a peek at my MadCap Flare website linked below.

Allergic to LaTeX? Use Word!

Allergic to LaTeX? Use Word! is a manual that teaches computer science students how to format proofs using Microsoft Word rather than coding them with LaTeX. Developed through a mix of research, consultation with subject matter experts (SMEs), and usability tests, this manual provides computer scientists with a comprehensive guide for writing with Microsoft Word.
